Welcome to Motive! We are happy to have you on board. At Motive, we have multiple resources available to help you get started and make the most of your investment. Please open the links listed below to read our onboarding documentation and set up your AI Dashcam for success.
Step 1: Adjusting and Installing AI Dashcam
1. How to adjust AI Dashcam Mount
- The AI Dashcam has an adjustable mount that makes finding the perfect angle for your camera easy. Loosen the main thumb screw with your finger or with the included Allen key
The mount’s position can now be freely adjusted to achieve the best viewing angle for your dashcam.
Once you have a clear view of the road (and of the driver for the dual-facing model), tighten the main thumbscrew once more so that the camera won’t move while the vehicle is in motion.
2. How to install AI Dashcam
Installation Requirements
- AI Dashcam
- Allen Key Wrench
- Alcohol Swabs
- Zip Ties
- Cable Clips
- Extra Adhesive Sticker
- AI Dashcam

1. Connecting your AI Dashcam
Note: Turn your vehicle's Engine ON before installing and mounting the AI Dashcam.
- Clean the USB side of the Vehicle Gateway with the provided alcohol swab.
- Pull the sticker covering the adhesive on the end of the USB cable.
2. Selecting a mounting location
- We recommend mounting on the top center of the windshield so it doesn’t obscure the driver’s view of the road.
- Before installing, peel off the protective stickers from the dashcam.
3. Adjusting the AI Dashcam Mount
- Loosen the main screw of the mount with your finger or use the included Allen key.
Note: Don't remove the adhesive sticker on the mount at this stage. - Hold the dashcam against the selected location with the cable running from the top.
4. Mount the AI Dashcam

- Tap on the Current Vehicle section.
- Tap Manage Dashcam. If the camera is detected, it will show ‘connected' and will give you an option to take a test image.
- Tap the View Images button to ensure the camera has a clear view of the driver and road.
You will be taken to a new screen where you can view your images. If the Dashcam is dual-facing then you will see both images together.
2. How to get a test image from AI Dashcam
- Switch your engine ON.
- Check whether the Blue LED light on the camera is lit. If the Blue LED does not turn on within 3 minutes of the engine on, disconnect and reconnect the camera from the Vehicle Gateway while the engine remains ON. The LED will turn on in another 3 minutes.
- Wait for 2 minutes after the LED light on the camera turns ON.
- Open the Driver App and attempt to take a test image again.
- If you still fail to take an image, unplug DC first while the engine is still ON.
- Connect to the Driver App and wait until the status of the Dashcam changes to Disconnected.
- Turn off the engine after 1 min and disconnect the Vehicle Gateway as well. Wait for 5 mins.
- Plug back the Vehicle Gateway and wait for it to power up. Make sure the GPS(left) light is solid GREEN. Turn the engine ON, wait 1-2 mins, and connect the DC.
- Connect to the Driver App and wait until the status of the Dashcam changes to Connected. Now try to take the test image again.
- If the install image check fails with the LED ON, the camera is busy transferring a video. Try again in a few minutes.
- If the next try fails, reach out to Support.
3. What's the Quick Capture button on the AI Dashcam
- The Quick Capture button allows the driver to quickly capture the event or footage they find worth sharing with the Fleet Admins.

6. Dashcam and Vehicle Gateway Compatibility
Note: Sometimes, when your Dashcam is faulty or you're using an old Vehicle Gateway, your AI Dashcam might not power up. The issue could be with either of them or both; to resolve the issue, you need to check where it is.
- To check if your Dashcam is faulty or not, swap your Dashcam with another working Dashcam and check if the other test unit powers up/works properly. If the new Dashcam works, it means your previous Dashcam was faulty.
- To check your Vehicle Gateway, connect the reported Dashcam with another Cellular Vehicle Gateway (that already has a working Dashcam connected to it). If the Dashcam works with the new Vehicle Gateway, the issue could be with the old Vehicle Gateway.
- Replace your Dashcam with the working Dashcam or get a newer Vehicle Gateway, depending on the issue you discovered in your case, and your AI Dashcam will power up.
Note: Only lbb_3.55ca and lbb_3.6ca Vehicle Gateway models are compatible with the AI Dashcam.
